Brad Gushue spoke with CTV News Edmonton about his new memoir, Gushue: The Making of a Champion, arriving in bookstores on November 3.
Co-written with journalist Stephen Brunt, the memoir looks back at Brad’s more than 30 years in competitive curling, including Olympic gold in 2006, a world championship and a record six Brier titles.
Brad began writing the book after announcing his retirement from competitive curling. He described the process as therapeutic while adjusting to the end of a career that began in the junior ranks.
“I was struggling with retirement,” Brad said. “I knew it was time to do it, but I’ve been curling for so long that the decision was tough.”
The memoir explores Brad’s pursuit of excellence, leadership and the difficult decisions that shaped his career. While he acknowledges mistakes and regrets, he remains proud of the journey and the person it helped him become.
Brad will visit 15 Canadian communities to promote the book, beginning in Gander on October 27. He will also appear at Indigo at West Edmonton Mall on November 9.
