Brad Gushue Named High Performance Director for USA Curling

May 13, 2026

Brad Gushue has been named High Performance Director for USA Curling, bringing his Olympic gold and bronze medals, seven national championships, and three decades of elite leadership experience to the organization's athlete development and national team operations.

The appointment comes after Brad retired from competitive curling this past season. "This role felt like a natural fit," he says. "It's an opportunity to stay close to the sport and make a meaningful impact in a new way."

Brad's mandate includes aligning training systems, identifying talent, advancing coach education, and building high-performance culture across all disciplines—men's, women's, mixed doubles, wheelchair, and junior programs—toward the 2034 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City.

USA Curling CEO Dean Gemmell notes that Brad brings management expertise alongside competitive credentials. "He has extensive experience as a leader of teams both on and off the ice. We are thrilled to welcome him as we work to achieve international success that builds the sport at every level."

Brad will remain based in Newfoundland and Labrador while fulfilling the role, starting with athlete conversations and program planning for the upcoming season.
